How To Dress For A Job Interview

Today’s job interview tip is for women.  Do you know how to dress for a job interview and how much makeup to wear?  If your clothing or makeup call too much attention to themselves, the job interviewer will remember you more for your appearance than for your job qualifications.  You want to come across as a professional who is skilled and qualified to meet the employer’s needs, and not as someone who looks unprofessional or flamboyant.

The following video and audio will give you tips on how to look tops for your interview.

Makeup For A Job Interview

When applying your foundation, apply it to a clean moisturized face. Take your time applying your foundation to avoid too heavy an application. Your prospective employer should not see where your makeup ends. This is very distracting and shows a lack of professionalism on your part.

Apply your eye makeup next. Avoid applying too heavy eye makeup. Stick to neutral shades such as browns, tans or soft plums that accentuate your eyes and do not show a lot of color. A concealer to brighten your eyes should be used to add confidence to your look. A thin coating of mascara will complete the look leaving your eyes naturally beautiful and not appearing heavily made up.

When applying makeup for a job interview, be careful not to over emphasize your lips. Keep your lip color as neutral as possible: a shade or two closer to your natural lip color will work well, or try a very pale berry or pink color, and skip the lip gloss.

The use of a soft pink blush, lightly applied on the apples of your cheeks will give your face a fresh, muted look.

Lastly, a light dusting of loose or pressed powder, particularly along the forehead, nose and chin will keep you looking fresh and professional for the duration of your interview. If it is going to be a while in a waiting room or you have a long drive ahead of you, take along a blotting paper or powder to catch whatever shiny oil spots that may appear before you get there.

Makeup for a job interview should be light, natural and beautiful. It should only accentuate your natural beauty. If you look in the mirror and all you see is your makeup, it is too heavy and most likely you just need to rethink your color choices. Always do a practice run the night before to make sure you are confident the next morning when applying your makeup, this eliminates errors.
