Tips on How to Succeed at Your Job Interview
How To Succeed At Job Interviews

Hopefully you have obtained an interview after you have successfully submitted your resume and letter of application. Most applicants apply for jobs they have seen in newspaper ads, or via websites or recruitment agencies.
The first impression employers always look at is your resume. Always make sure that your resume is accurate and engaging. Many employers only look at each one for around thirty seconds before moving on to the next. You want yours to stand out!
Your resume states personal details, education, and achievements. At the interview stage the interviewer will want to learn much more about you. Interviewers commonly ask to describe your previous role and what you have achieved with your last employer. Describe in detail how you reacted in a positive way to the challenges you faced in your previous jobs and what you have gained from these experiences.
You may also be asked to describe how you solved specific types of problems in previous employment. Be prepared with stories to tell of your achievements.
A common question is “Why do you want to work here?” Be ready to answer this and state your ambitions for the future with the company. Make sure you have done your research on the company you are applying for. For instance, if ihe company is John Lewis Job Vacancies, tell them that you like the company set-up, values, type of work, and opportunities for advancement. Be specific.
Your answers to questions such as this will show if there is dedication for the job at hand and if your association with the company can provide something beneficial for both the applicant and the employer.
Most interviewers ask for your salary expectations so they can see if you fit in with their budget. Many salaries are open for negotiation, so don’t be afraid to say that you are open to any reasonable offer. Try to get them to make an offer first.
When the interviewer has finished with their questions, be sure to ask some of your own. Asking questions gives you the opportunity to learn more about the job and the company, and it shows the interviewer that you have done your homework about the company and the position for which you are applying.
Don’t be surprised to learn that there is a second interview. Many companies like to see applicants more than once before making their decision.
